What is carbon footprint?
Carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases that are generated by our actions. It includes gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, expressed in equivalent tons of CO2. In corporation level, carbon footprint determines the emissions from across its operations, directly or indirectly. It is a significant measure of the company’s impact on the environment.

Why is it important?
Greenhouse gasses emission into the atmosphere is causing global warming. Based on data from NASA, Earth’s average surface temperature in 2023 was the warmest on record since recordkeeping began in 1880. Overall, Earth was about 1.36 degrees Celsius warmer than in the late 19th-century preindustrial average. In keeping the Earth from getting warmer faster, as recommended by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the 2015 Paris Agreement, understanding where the greenhouse gas emissions come from is essential. Therefore, we can take effective and targeted action to reduce emissions.
Our Commitment
Jayakarta Hotels & Resorts is committed to regularly count our carbon footprint every year to support the Indonesia achievement in following Paris Agreement. Our calculation follows GHG Protocol framework to measure and report greenhouse gas emissions, including Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 calculations. We already calculated the carbon footprint of 2 of our units, The Jayakarta SP Jakarta and The Jayakarta Bali Hotel & Residence. We are on track in calculating the remaining 8 units in 2025.
In 2025, The Jayakarta SP Jakarta and The Jayakarta Bali Hotel & Residence can provide our guests with the carbon footprint calculations every time you stay.
Jayakarta Hotels & Resorts and Ametis Institute support entrepreneurs to start measuring their carbon footprint, especially tourism business enterprises. Starting with small steps, we are building a better future together.
